July 15, 2022
Conemaugh Health System announced today that Bill Caldwell, market president and CEO of Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, will retire by the end of the year, following four years of service to the system. A search for Caldwell’s replacement is underway.
“We cannot thank Bill enough for his leadership and dedication to Conemaugh Health System, our staff and the many people we serve,” said Doug Bell, Conemaugh Board Chair. “Bill’s passion for healthcare and the community will be greatly missed here, but we wish him all the best in his well-deserved retirement. We look forward to working with Bill and Duke LifePoint leadership to find and onboard a new CEO who will lead Conemaugh into the future.”
Caldwell joined Conemaugh Health System in 2018. During his tenure, he led multiple operational enhancements to expand Conemaugh’s footprint and services, including the opening of the Conemaugh Ebensburg and Somerset outpatient centers, the remodel of Conemaugh’s education building and School of Nursing, a renovation of the Crichton Rehabilitation Center, and more recently the groundbreaking and construction of the D Building expansion.
“It has been a true privilege to serve Conemaugh Health System, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have worked alongside the talented staff and physicians at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center and across our system,” said Caldwell. “I have been inspired by our team’s tireless commitment to caring for our patients and protecting our community, and I can say that I have worked with the most talented and committed caregivers I’ve encountered in my career here at Conemaugh.”
Caldwell has been actively involved in the community since moving to Johnston serving on several local boards including the Cambria Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Johnstown Area Regional Industries (JARI), the Health Care Council of Western Pennsylvania, Mount Aloysius College and Hospital Association of Pennsylvania
