As part of National Rural Health Day, Conemaugh Meyersdale Medical Center and Conemaugh Miners Medical Center proudly share that both have been recognized by The Chartis Center for Rural Health earning the 2025 Performance Leadership Award. Conemaugh Meyersdale is being awarded for excellence in Patient Perspective & Outcomes and Conemaugh Miners is being awarded for Patient Perspective. The Performance Leadership Awards program recognizes top quartile performance among rural hospitals in Quality, Outcomes, and/or Patient Perspective.

“This is a tremendous honor for both our community hospitals,” said Jessica Svidergol-Peterman, Chief Operating Officer of Conemaugh Meyersdale Medical Center and Conemaugh Miners Medical Center. “The hardworking, compassionate teams at both Conemaugh Meyersdale and Conemaugh Miners continuously go above and beyond for their patients. Their dedication to our mission of making communities healthier provides our rural communities with accessible, high-quality healthcare options right in their hometowns, minimizing the need for expensive travel.”

This is the second consecutive year Conemaugh Meyersdale Medical Center has received recognition from the Chartis Center for Rural Health as a Performance Leader.

The Performance Leadership Awards program is based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX®, a comprehensive and objective framework for assessing how rural hospitals are performing. INDEX benchmarks are relied upon by rural hospitals, health systems with rural footprints, hospital associations, and state offices of rural health to measure performance across multiple areas impacting hospital operations and finance.

“The areas of quality, outcomes, and patient perspective are cornerstones of healthcare delivery across rural America, and this year’s Performance Leadership Award recipients are establishing a standard of excellence for their rural peers to follow,” said Michael Topchik, Executive Director, Chartis Center for Rural Health. “We are delighted to shine a spotlight on such strong performance and honor the achievement of these hospitals on National Rural Health Day.”
