Dr. Scott Magley Awarded Dr. John M. Templeton, Jr. Physician Award for the Commitment to Excellence in Trauma Care

The Pennsylvania Division of the American Trauma Society has awarded Conemaugh Miners Medical Center Emergency Medicine Director R. Scott Magley, MD, FACEP, MMM with the 2022 John M. Templeton, Jr. Physician Award for the Commitment to Excellence in Trauma Care. Dr. Magley was presented with the award during the American Trauma Society, PA Division’s annual conference April 5 at Kalahari Resorts & Conventions in Pocono Manor.
As Director of Emergency Medicine at Conemaugh Miners Medical Center, Dr. Magley leads an accredited Level IV trauma department. For decades, he has been actively involved in trauma prevention education throughout the community and has helped to develop safety fairs, community outreach events, and the Stop The Bleed program. Dr. Magley has also helped to spearhead a new Hunter Safety Education and Tree Stand Safety program to serve an important community need. Dr. Magley also serves as the Regional Medical Director for Southern Alleghenies EMS.

During his 28 years as President of the American Trauma Society, Pennsylvania Division Board of Directors, Dr. John M. Templeton Jr. helped lay the groundwork for an ever-expanding trauma prevention program. In his honor, the Pennsylvania Division of the American Trauma Society awards a scholarship annually to a physician who has displayed a commitment to excellence in trauma care in the following areas: clinical expertise, philanthropy, leadership, trauma-related research and trauma prevention and education.
