Cambria County Dairy Princess Amber Adams Welcomes County’s First June Babies at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center
June 7, 2021
Last week, Cambria County Dairy Princess Amber Adams visited the first babies born in Cambria County in June, which is National Dairy Month.
On June 1, Johnstown residents Katelyn and Michael Kordell welcomed twin daughters, Olivia and Maya, at 7:30 a.m. and 7:32 a.m. respectively, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Adams gifted the twins a plush cow and a storybook, Good Night, Cow.
As the first baby to arrive in June of 2003 in Blair County, Adams was welcomed by a Dairy Princess and wanted to replicate the gesture during her reign of duty.
The Penn Cambria graduate and Vale Wood Farms employee is enthusiastic about sharing the nutritional benefits of dairy to residents throughout Cambria
County.
“Infants generally transition from breast milk to dairy between the ages of one and two,” said Tonya Spada-Dixon, Director of Food and Nutrition at Conemaugh
Health System. “As children make that transition, milk consumption is extremely important to their development, particularly in building strong bones.
Dairy products are a source of key nutrients like calcium, protein, potassium, and Vitamin D.”
The Pennsylvania Dairy Princess and Promotion Program, Inc. (PDPPS) is a non-profit, 501(c)(5) that oversees county dairy princesses and junior representative royalty to promote the nutritional value and benefits of incorporating dairy foods into daily life.
