2.5.2021 COVID-19 Update from Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center
February 5, 2021
Currently, Memorial is treating less than 30 patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 in our hospital. While this is a decrease from our last update, this number is very fluid and can change rapidly.
On February 2, 2021, Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center expanded some of its visitor guidelines. These guidelines vary among our facilities, and we are taking precautions to protect our patients, staff and visitors. All visitors must be screened upon entry, and any visitors who screen positive at entry will not be granted access into the facility. Visitors are also required to wear a mask.
However, patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 will still not be allowed visitors to protect the safety of all individuals.
Please see below for our guidelines. More information is available on the website: https://www.conemaugh.org/health-information/covid-19-information/covid-19-visitor-policy-screening-process
At this time, Conemaugh has temporarily paused registration for vaccine appointments as we await delivery of more vaccine doses from the PA Department of Health. The PA Department of Health determines our vaccine allotment, and as we receive more vaccine, we will reopen the registration form to sign up for the appointments. Community members, who are in the 1A Tier, should keep an eye on our social media and website for more updates.
We have administered around 3,400 vaccines to date, and are wrapping up the second round doses in the coming weeks. Memorial is pleased to be taking this next exciting step toward ending the pandemic and advancing our mission of Making Communities Healthier.
We are eager to vaccinate as many individuals as possible and are doing everything we can to ensure a smooth rollout at our facilities and in our community when the time comes. Once the vaccine is more widely available, we will work with our local and state partners to educate our community on how and where to get vaccinated. Check our website and social media platforms often for immunization plan updates.
Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center reminds the public to do their part to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by wearing a mask or face covering in public, in addition to practicing social distancing, avoiding social gatherings outside your household, and proper hand hygiene.
Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center continues to take all the necessary precautions to protect our patients and staff from COVID-19, including limiting entry points to the facility, screening all individuals for symptoms of COVID-19, universal masking and maintaining a restricted visitation protocol.

Super Bowl Sunday Safety Tips
This Sunday is the pinnacle of all sporting events, the Super Bowl. The game is usually one of the nights where friends and family gather to watch the game and even the commercials. Conemaugh Health System encourages our communities to skip the large party this year, have a smaller celebration and watch the big game with those who live in your home. The CDC has some excellent tips for how to enjoy the Super Bowl during COVID.
Please go to https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/daily-life-coping/holidays/small-gatherings.html and find ways to watch the game safely.
Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center wants to remind members of the community about best practices for overall health and wellbeing during the pandemic, so we are sharing these recommendations.
