April 5, 2024

Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center published its community benefit report for the 2023 calendar year. This annual report outlines the various ways the hospital is working to support the health and economic vitality of the Greater Johnstown community as part of its mission of making communities healthier®.
“As a leading healthcare provider in the Greater Johnstown area, CMMC is committed to providing high-quality care close to home, investing in our region’s overall well-being, and making a positive impact on those we serve,” said Rodney D. Reider, Chief Executive Officer of CMMC. “This year’s report demonstrates our continued efforts to provide compassionate care – both inside and outside our hospital walls.”
CMMC’s 2023 community benefit report highlights its continued efforts to meet the growing healthcare needs of the community through welcoming new providers, adding and expanding service lines and continually investing in its facilities and healthcare technology. For example, in 2023, CMMC added 139 providers in anesthesiology, cardiology, critical care, family and emergency medicine, gastroenterology, internal and pain medicine, neurology, OB/GYN, occupational medicine, psychiatry, radiation oncology, and more; and made more than $28 million in capital improvements, including new ultrasound technology and a premium tissue processing system.
Furthermore, CMMC donated over $24 million in health services to those in need, showing its continuous commitment to ensuring everyone has access to care, regardless of their ability to pay.
Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center is also devoted to creating environments where providers want to practice, and employees want to work. In 2023, the hospital distributed more than $224,594,554 in salaries, wages, and benefits for its approximately 2390 employees, while contributing more than $7 million in professional development and tuition assistance providing employees the opportunity to learn, grow, and improve the care they provide their patients.
Last year, the organization paid more than $30 million in local and state taxes, while also continuing its support of local activities and organizations committed to serving the region,
including the American Heart Association, the 1889 Foundation, The United Way of Laurel Highlands, Highlands Health Clinic, Cambria County Drug Coalition, Tomahawks Hockey, Johnstown Mill Rats, and the Community Veterans Initiative.
“We are proud to call Johnstown our home, and we feel incredibly grateful for the continued support of all those who entrust us with their care. Our success would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of our providers, employees, and volunteers,” said Reider. “As we look ahead to the future, we are so excited to continue improving how we serve our neighbors and communities.”
