Conemaugh Nason Medical Center Now Offers Certified Car Seat Safety Checks
June 2, 2025

Just in time for summer travel, Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is now offering car seat safety checks conducted by a Certified Passenger Safety Technician (CPST)—a new service aimed at helping families keep their children safe on the road.
Lesly Miller-Jacobs, Patient Advocate and Community Liaison, earned her CPST certification in March, furthering the hospital’s commitment to injury prevention and community education as part of its Level IV Trauma Program.
“This initiative is one more way we’re working to protect our youngest community members,” said Miller-Jacobs. “Car seat safety is essential, and I’m proud to be a resource for families in our region.”
Through this new service, families can schedule a personalized appointment with Lesly to receive:
- Education on correct car seat usage and positioning
- Fit checks based on the child’s age, height, and weight
- Guidance on seat placement in relation to airbags
- Review of product recalls and manufacturer guidelines
- Tips for safe and proper installation (The technician does not perform installation, but parents will receive hands-on instruction to do it correctly)
Additionally, child safety seats are available to qualifying families through support from the American Trauma Society, Pennsylvania Division, and a state grant.
Appointments begin in June and can be scheduled by calling 814-224-6230. Space is limited, so early scheduling is encouraged.
