January 26, 2022
Conemaugh Health System will host a four-week educational course for individuals interested in pursuing a career as a nursing assistant beginning on April 4, 2022. The weekday training includes two weeks of classroom education and two weeks of clinical instruction at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Throughout the month, students learn to assist with the direct day-to-day care of patients and families under the supervision of the Nurse Manager/RN and other members of the Patient Care Team.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and pass standard clearances and a physical exam. The course is free, and participants receive a weekly stipend ($350) for 100% attendance, passing grades, strong clinical skills, and a positive attitude. Following successful completion of the program, students are guaranteed a full-time position as a nurse assistant within the health system, and are eligible for sign-on bonuses in place at the time of their hire. Currently, the sign-on bonus for full-time nurse aides is $10,000 for a three-year commitment.
