Conemaugh Nason Medical Center was recently recognized at the 2026 Corazon Fall Conference in Pittsburgh for achieving Chest Pain Center Accreditation with Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) from the American College of Cardiology (ACC), marking an important milestone in the hospital’s continued commitment to quality improvement and excellence in cardiovascular care.

Conemaugh Nason Medical Center’s cardiac program has maintained accreditation through Corazon for the past five years, reflecting an ongoing dedication to providing high-quality cardiac care and continually strengthening services for patients throughout the region. The recognition was presented during Corazon's Annual Conference which honors organizations that have successfully maintained accreditation standards while demonstrating an ongoing focus on exceptional patient outcomes and program performance.

The latest accreditation followed an in-depth review by the ACC, which confirmed that Conemaugh Nason Medical Center met all mandatory requirements for Chest Pain Center Accreditation with PCI. The review highlighted several strengths of the program, including improvements in timely electrocardiogram (ECG) interpretation, strong collaboration with emergency medical services (EMS), and community outreach focused on cardiovascular health education, screenings and Hands-Only CPR training.

The review also recognized the team’s success in meeting door-to-reperfusion time goals for 100% of cases year to date in 2026. This achievement demonstrates the hospital’s focus on delivering timely treatment when patients experience serious cardiac events.

“This recognition reflects the dedication and teamwork of our physicians, nurses, clinical staff, EMS partners and team members throughout Conemaugh Nason Medical Center,” said Jennifer Shade, Senior Nursing Officer. “When someone experiences a cardiac emergency, every minute matters. Our team remains committed to continually improving the care we provide so patients can receive timely, high-quality cardiovascular care close to home.”

The accreditation represents the collective work of team members throughout the organization who help ensure patients experiencing chest pain and other cardiac emergencies receive coordinated, evidence-based care.

"Achieving five years of accreditation reflects a meaningful commitment to continuous improvement and quality patient care," said Ross Swanson, President of Corazon. "This milestone demonstrates that Conemaugh Nason has embraced accreditation as more than a designation. It is a framework for sustaining excellence, enhancing performance, and ensuring patients receive the highest standard of cardiovascular care. We congratulate their entire team on this outstanding achievement."
