Conemaugh Health System Welcomes Oncologist Dr. Rashid Awan

Conemaugh Health System is pleased to announce that Rashid Awan, MD, will join its cancer care team on July 1, 2026, providing hematology and oncology services at the Conemaugh East Hills Cancer Center.
Dr. Awan brings more than 20 years of experience in cancer care and a strong commitment to delivering personalized, compassionate treatment to patients facing complex diagnoses. Throughout his career, he has cared for patients with a wide range of cancers, including lung, breast, and prostate cancer, while helping individuals and families navigate every stage of their cancer journey.

A long-time member of the Johnstown community, Dr. Awan is familiar with the healthcare needs of the region and is committed to ensuring local patients have access to high-quality cancer care close to home. His return to practice in the area reflects both his professional dedication and personal connection to the community he serves.
Dr. Awan earned his medical degree from the University of California, Riverside School of Medicine and completed his postgraduate training at Loma Linda University Medical Center. In addition to his expertise in oncology and hematology, he has a broad clinical background in internal medicine and anesthesiology, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of patient care.
Known for his thoroughness, clear communication, and compassionate bedside manner, Dr. Awan has earned positive patient reviews throughout his career. He believes in developing individualized treatment plans that address not only a patient's medical needs, but also their personal goals and quality of life.
