Conemaugh Physician Group, Western PA Orthopedics and Sports Medicine welcomes orthopedic spine specialist Julio Rodriguez Jr., MD, to the team.

Dr. Rodriguez completed his fellowship training in Spine Surgery at West Virginia University, Department of Orthopedics in Morgantown, West Virginia.

He served as Chief Resident during his orthopedic surgery residency at Cooper University Hospital, Bone and Joint Institute in Camden, NJ. In 2019, Dr. Rodriguez was awarded the Gold Humanism Residency Recognition Award at Cooper Medical School, a national recognition for students, residents, and faculty exemplars of compassionate patient care and serving as role models, mentors, and leaders in medicine.

Prior to his residency, Dr. Rodriguez earned his Doctor of Medicine from Ponce Health Sciences University School of Medicine in Ponce, Puerto Rico, where he was awarded honors and recognitions for clinical rotations.

Dr. Rodriguez participated in numerous research endeavors. Most recently, he served as an Assistant Research Fellow for a three–month project involving data collection and analysis, didactic activities, and cadaver workshops in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus.

Dr. Rodriguez specializes in orthopedics, focusing on orthopedic spine surgery and orthopedic trauma.

He is a member of the Orthopedic Trauma Association and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is bilingual and enjoys fishing, dominoes, and billiards.

Dr. Rodriguez is accepting new patients at Conemaugh East Hills Outpatient Center and Western PA Orthopedics and Sports Medicine.
