Conemaugh Health System to Offer COVID-19 Vaccine Booster Doses to Eligible Community Members on October 16 & 23

October 04, 2021

The COVID-19 vaccine booster appointments for October 16 and the 23 have filled up very quickly. We are currently working to schedule more dates for booster shots for employees and the community.

Conemaugh Health System will offer COVID-19 vaccine booster doses to eligible members of the community from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on October 16 and October 23 at the hospital’s main campus on Franklin Street.

COVID-19 vaccine booster shots are available for individuals who received their first and second dose of the Pfizer vaccine at least six months ago and who are either 65 years and older, adults (18+) with underlying medical conditions, or adults (18+) who work or live in high-risk settings including first responders, teachers, food and agriculture workers, manufacturing workers, corrections workers, U.S. Postal Service workers, public transit workers, and grocery store workers. Booster shots are only approved for the Pfizer vaccine at this time.

Individuals who received their first and second Pfizer doses at Conemaugh Health System and booked their initial appointments through MyChart will be notified about available openings. Community members may also call 814-410-8400 to schedule their booster dose beginning on Tuesday at noon. No walk-up appointments will be available.

Vaccination appointments will take place in the Employee Health Office on the ground floor of the Good Samaritan Building off of Franklin Street. Free parking is available across Franklin Street in the hospital’s North Parking Garage and public transportation is available via CamTran. Individuals should bring their vaccination card to their appointment.

Although COVID-19 vaccines remain effective in preventing severe disease and hospitalization, recent studies suggest that protection against the virus may decrease over time. Booster shots provide improved protection against COVID-19 and the highly infectious Delta variant.

Conemaugh Health System continues to take all the necessary precautions to keep our patients and staff safe. Masks are required at all facilities, social distancing is observed, and the highest level of cleaning and disinfecting protocols are in place.
