Cardiovascular Rehabilitation
The cardiac and vascular rehabilitation programs at Conemaugh Health System are designed to support your individual journey to a healthier heart. If you're recovering from a heart of vascular event, our staff is ready to support you. We offer a welcoming, supportive environment and an individualized approach to nutrition and exercise tailored to your lifestyle.
Treatment can begin in the hospital following a heart or vascular event, or after discharge. Talk to your provider about joining our cardiac or vascular rehabilitation programs. Most insurance plans partially or fully cover the cost of these services.
You may qualify for cardiac rehabilitation if you have experienced any of the following:

- A heart attack (also known as a “myocardial infarction”) in the past 12 months
- Coronary Bypass Surgery
- Valve replacement or repair
- Angioplasty or “stent” placement
- Heart transplant
- Stable chest pain (also known as stable angina)
- Congestive heart failure

Supervised Exercise Therapy for Peripheral Arterial Disease at Conemaugh East Hills
This Supervised Exercise Therapy for Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) Program allows cardiac rehabilitation professionals to assist in the care of people affected by intermittent claudication resulting from peripheral artery disease. National guidelines stress the importance of supervised exercise to improve functional capacity, decrease symptoms, and achieve systemic risk reduction benefits. It allows community members affected by these conditions to take healthy steps toward controlling their PAD. The goal of the program is to improve walking ability, overall functional status, and health related quality of life in patients with symptomatic PAD. We are dedicated to helping people with cardiovascular and pulmonary problems recover faster and improve their quality of life. Both programs include exercise, education, counseling, and support for patients and their families.
