12.11.2020 COVID-19 Update from Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center

December 11, 2020

As of 12.11.2020:

As reported by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, cases of COVID-19 have increased in Cambria County in recent weeks, and with the documented increase in confirmed positive cases, hospitals in our region, including Memorial, have seen an expected increase in hospitalizations.

Currently, Memorial is treating more than 80 patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 in our hospital, and there are less than 10 individuals awaiting test results.

Memorial currently has staff and resources to care for patients presenting to our hospital.  However, due to the prevalence of COVID-19 and the rate of spread in our community, Memorial is using all our resources to ensure our patients get the care they need. Staff with clinical experience, who were working in a non-clinical position, are now assisting with patient care. We acknowledge that our staff and physicians are feeling the effects of the ongoing pandemic.  We are grateful for their continued efforts to ensure that our community remains healthy as they care for their neighbors, family and friends.  Every member of our team – in our hospitals, physician practices, pharmacies and labs – is working to Make Communities Healthier.  We encourage the community to acknowledge the steadfast commitment of local healthcare workers as we continue to weather this storm together.  Individuals can send messages of support and gratitude to healthcare workers here: http://www.thankahealthcarehero.com/.

Please be smart and do your part. Wear a mask! We all have a responsibility to protect one another against the spread of COVID-19 and to ensure that our community remains healthy.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Pennsylvania Department of Health recommend face coverings and masks, which have been scientifically validated to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. CLICK HERE for CDC guidance on how to wear your mask.

Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center reminds the public to do their part to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by wearing a mask or face covering in public, in addition to practicing social distancing and proper hand hygiene.

Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center continues to take all the necessary precautions to protect our patients and staff from COVID-19, including limiting entry points to the facility, screening all individuals for symptoms of COVID-19, universal masking and maintaining a strict zero-visitation protocol.
