Pelvic floor disorders impact one in three women. Pelvic floor dysfunction can lead to a number of problems including:

  • Urinary Incontinence / Stress Incontinence - leakage of urine during activity (coughing / sneezing)
  • Pelvic organ prolapse
  • Pain in the lower back or pelvis
  • Bowel control issues
  • Sensation that the bladder or bowel is not fully emptied


Conemaugh Rehabilitation offers physical therapy for pelvic floor disorders. Specially train therapists can assist with non-surgical options including:

  • Exercises to stregthen the core pelvic muscles
  • Vaginal weight training
  • Biofeedback to help patients control muscles
  • Electrical stimultation to help relieve pain and strengthen muscles
  • Education on lifestyle modifications that may help prevent bladder control issues
