Pennsylvania Medical Society Names Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center’s Alexander Pozun, DO to Top Physicians Under 40 List

April 21, 2021

The Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) has named Alexander Pozun, DO, as one of the state’s Top Physicians Under 40. At Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Pozun serves as an Emergency Medicine physician and is part of the core teaching faculty for the Emergency Medicine Residency.

Pozun was nominated by Westmont Hilltop School District, where he serves as school district physician. During the COVID-19 pandemic, his duties as a team physician and school district physician quickly evolved as he helped the school district adapt to new protocols to keep students and student athletes safe and healthy.

“Dr. Pozun has been instrumental in the early adoption of COVID-19 policies and protocols,” said superintendent Thomas Mitchell. “He has done an exemplary job of educating non-medical professionals and providing recommendations that have helped the school district operate safely during this unprecedented time.” Additionally, Pozun serves as volunteer director of the hospital’s Mentoring Medicine Program. In 2020, he spearheaded the program’s safety plan and donated personal protective equipment for students to keep the program in place through the pandemic.

A University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown graduate, Pozun received his medical degree from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in South Carolina and completed his residency at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Pozun also serves as the gameday physician for the Johnstown Tomahawks.
