Laborist Joins Team at Conemaugh Memorial

Lisa Cone, a Certified Nurse Midwife and Doctor of Nursing Practice has joined the team at Conemaugh Physician Group - OB/GYN and is now helping deliver babies at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.

Dr. Cone earned an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Butler Community College followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Slippery Rock University. In 2009, Cone completed a Certified Nurse Midwife degree and Master of Science in Nursing from Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Practice. Cone obtained her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Frontier Nursing University in 2014.

In her role at Conemaugh Memorial, Cone will assist women in labor on weekends and during the night including assisting physicians with Cesarean deliveries. “I have a great deal of experience helping women with labor,” says Cone. “It is something I am passionate about and I am dedicated to doing everything I can to make it a safe and wonderful experience.”

In addition to her work at Conemaugh, Cone is a laborist at Butler Hospital. She also has a great deal of teaching experience having served as a nursing instructor and preceptor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Duquesne University and Clarion University.

Conemaugh Memorial is home to a growing OB/GYN program with 1900 annual deliveries and 270 admissions to the Regional Intensive Care Nursery, a Level III neonatal intensive care unit. The program is backed by the resources of two board certified perinatologists specializing in high risk pregnancies and two board certified neonatologists specially trained to care for premature and ill newborns. Conemaugh Memorial recently earned a Perinatal Care Certification from the Joint Commission, making Conemaugh Memorial one of only two hospitals in Pennsylvania to achieve this certification.
