Conemaugh Physician Group – Pain Management welcomes board-certified pain management physician Amanpreet Sandhu, MD to its team. Dr. Sandhu will provide outpatient services to patients at Conemaugh East Hills, 1450 Scalp Avenue, Johnstown.
“Conemaugh has a very strong pain team that attracted me to the area,” said Dr. Sandhu. “The natural beauty of Johnstown, a variety of fun outdoor activities, and being close to family were all reasons I decided to join Conemaugh. It’s a great area.”
Dr. Sandhu says helping patients to relieve pain and disability while improving quality of life is the most rewarding part of his profession. “Pain is one of the most common and most distressing ailments any patient has to deal with,” he said. “When pain becomes chronic, it affects virtually every part of the patient’s life especially their ability to stay functional and be able to continue to work. It’s rewarding to help patients to get some of their life back.”
Dr. Sandhu will treat outpatients with a variety of pain management concerns. Dr. Sandhu has special interest in non-opioid intervention for pain management. He will treat patients with all types of pain, but has an emphasis on chronic neck and low back pain.
Dr. Sandhu earned his medical degree at Dayanand Medical College, Punjab University, followed by an internship at Dayanand Medical College Hospital, Ludhiana, both in India. He completed an Internal Medicine Residency at Hospital of Saint Raphael / Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut, followed by an Anesthesia Residency at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. Dr. Sandhu completed an Interventional Pain Fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia. Prior to joining Conemaugh’s team, Dr. Sandhu practiced in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Sandhu was featured on Discovery Health in 2010 for a documentary titled “Paralyzed and pregnant with twins”. Dr. Sandhu is fluent in English, Hindi, and Punjabi.
