Conemaugh Physician Group Welcomes Fellowship-Trained Breast Surgeon

September 19, 2018

Conemaugh Physician Group welcomes Renee Arlow, MD starting on September 24. She will treat outpatients at the Conemaugh East Hills Outpatient Center.

Dr. Arlow completed a Breast Oncology Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania, building on her general surgery residency to specialize in cancers of the breast. During the fellowship, Dr. Arlow participated in the treatment of hundreds of breast cancers of various origin and stages using advanced surgical techniques, and also gained perspective on medical and radiation oncology treatment modalities. Arlow recently moved to the Johnstown area with her family, and is excited about the opportunities at Conemaugh. “I’m eager to put my surgical experience and training to work in this community,” says Arlow, “building and growing a breast surgery program from the ground up, with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities.” In addition to the professional opportunities afforded at Conemaugh, Dr. Arlow notes that she and her husband see this region as a wholesome place to raise their family.

Arlow earned her bachelor of arts in Public Health degree from Franklin and Marshall, followed by her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at Rutgers University. She’s an experienced researcher and has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Arlow specializes in nipple-sparing mastectomy, lumpectomy, simple and modified radical mastectomy, sentinel lymph node biopsy, axillary lymph node dissection, hidden scar surgery, core needle and punch biopsy. Arlow expects to expand surgical offerings over time.

“The approach to breast cancer is multidisciplinary,” Arlow adds, “My patients can trust that I’ll help them explore options for the best medical care for their specific disease.”
