Conemaugh Miners Medical Center Now Providing Hospitalist Services

September 21, 2018

Conemaugh Miners Medical Center has partnered with Apogee Physicians, the nation’s leading hospitalist physician group, to provide comprehensive care for patients who need to be admitted to the hospital.

Hospitalist physicians are “inpatient care specialists” who direct and coordinate care for hospitalized patients. These specially trained and board-certified physicians work closely with each patient’s primary care physician to coordinate the care provided. When the patient is discharged from the hospital, he or she returns to his or her primary care physician for follow-up care.

“Our mission is Making Communities Healthier, so we’re pleased to offer this hospitalist program to our northern Cambria County residents,” said Tim Harclerode, CEO of Conemaugh Miners Medical Center. “This physician partnership improves access to excellent care, since patients can now use Miners even if their primary care doctors do not practice here. The hospitalist team will coordinate care with primary care physicians across the region.”

Hospitalist physicians will also care for patients requiring inpatient stays as a result of emergency room visits and who do not have primary care physicians.

The hospitalist service was recently initiated at Conemaugh Miners Medical Center and is working closely with physician providers in the region to increase access to high-quality inpatient care. For more information on the hospitalist program call (814) 247-3100 or visit www.conemaugh.org/miners.
