Conemaugh Health System Welcomes New Director of Marketing Communications

June 21, 2018

Conemaugh Health System is pleased to welcome Emily Korns as the Director of Marketing Communications, responsible for marketing, advertising, public relations, and communications for the regional healthcare provider. Korns, a Somerset native, replaces long-time director Amy Bradley, recently appointed chief executive officer of the Cambria Regional Chamber of Commerce.

“Emily brings a unique set of skills to this role, with her background in public relations and marketing,” says Steve Tucker, chief executive officer of Conemaugh Health System. “We found the right person for this job in our region, and that was important to us.”

Korns worked as a director of corporate affairs for food manufacturer Mars, Incorporated until 2017, when she started her own consulting firm. She has also held marketing and communications roles at General Nutrition Centers and Gerber Products Company, and practiced as a dietitian in Pittsburgh and Somerset. Recently Korns founded Somerset’s first co-working community, building on her experience telecommuting from Somerset for five years. She holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Dietetics and Nutrition from the University of Pittsburgh.

Korns is actively involved in the Somerset community as a Rotarian, a member of the Single County Authority Advisory Committee, and the Somerset County Health and Welfare Council.

“I’m thrilled to join this wonderful team at Conemaugh, telling the story of the amazing things we are doing each day to make communities healthier,” says Korns. “As the largest employer in the region, providing the advanced treatments and care you expect only from larger urban settings, Conemaugh is one more gem that makes people feel proud to live and work in the Laurel Highlands.”

Korns will start her career at Conemaugh on July 9, 2018.
