Conemaugh Family Medicine Residency Welcomes New Faculty Member

June 7, 2016

Dr. Safwat Nasrat has joined the faculty of Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center’s Family Medicine residency and is now seeing patients at Conemaugh Memorial and in his practice at Conemaugh’s Family Medical Center.

Dr. Nasrat is board certified in Family Medicine and most recently worked as a hospitalist at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Altoona. He completed his residency at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Utica, NY, and worked as a general practitioner/hospitalist at Al-Qoussia Clinic in Asyut, Egypt. Dr. Nasrat is a graduate of Asyut Medical College in Egypt.

“I like the mix of teaching and seeing patients,” says Dr. Nasrat. “Teaching comes naturally to me and is something I enjoy, but I also like seeing patients both in the inpatient and outpatient setting. In family medicine, you get a wide variety of patients, young and old and all different types of medical challenges. It is very rewarding. I like getting to know my patients and helping them get back to living well.”

Dr. Nasrat and his wife Dr. Marian Nakhla live in Richland Township with their two daughters, 11-year-old Joly and 5-year-old Camilla. Dr. Nakhla is a resident in Conemaugh Memorial’s Family Medicine residency.
