Uchenna Okereke, MD

Infectious Disease & Epidemiology

Phone:

Originally from Nigeria, Okereke taught biology, physics, and chemistry for nine years in the United States before deciding to pursue a career in medicine. “Receiving an education was always a priority with my parents,” she said. “While growing up in Nigeria, my family was fortunate to own a vehicle, so anytime someone was sick and in need of transportation to the hospital, my father was the ambulance,” she chuckled. “Seeing the gratitude of those less fortunate made me realize that helping people was my goal.” Dr. Okereke educated students about science which helped lead to a healthcare career. Curious about the immune system and various types of infections, she decided to pursue a profession in internal medicine. “Seeing the great teamwork that exists at Conemaugh made my choice of working here an easy decision.” Dr. Okereke will be seeing patients at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.
