St. Andrews Catholic School hosted its first "Andrews’ Angels Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness” event with proceeds benefitting patients of Conemaugh’s Cancer Care Center. Eighth-grade students sponsored the event and raised $1,500 for patient care. Community members joined together to line the sidewalks around the school and church with luminaries in Honor and in Memory of cancer patients who have fought or continue to fight cancer. An annual "Pink Dress Down Day" was also incorporated into fundraising. This is the third year that students from St. Andrew’s have raised money for Conemaugh’s cancer patients.
Donations to the Conemaugh Health Foundation for Conemaugh’s Cancer Care Center help with patient needs providing transportation to chemotherapy treatments, meals and other assistance helping to improve the quality of their lives during difficult times. Jen Pavelko, RN, Nurse Manager of the Cancer Center accepted the donation from Rev. Angelo Patti Pastor of St. Andrew Catholic Church.
