Quality and patient outcomes will be the focus of the message Renee Monahan, MBA, CHFMA,FHFMA will deliver to her healthcare finance colleagues later this month at the National Healthcare CFO Summit, Spring 2013.

Monahan, Vice President of Revenue Cycle for the Conemaugh Health System, will address the group of financial leaders urging them to have good systems in place to measure costs and quality. “The systems that healthcare CFOs have in place for measuring and reporting clinical variations will be key for successfully reducing costs as reimbursement dollars continue to shrink,” says Monahan.

Monahan describes the current state of healthcare as one of great change. “We are transitioning from a system that is based on quantity, where we get paid for the volume of services per admission, to a health system based on quality and patient outcomes. Today increased volume equates to additional revenue, but in the future, it will actually equate to additional cost.”

With over 20 years experience in healthcare reimbursement and revenue cycle leadership, Monahan has served as Conemaugh Memorial’s Revenue Cycle Vice-President since January 2007. She is an Advanced Member and a Certified Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and a member of the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA).

The National Healthcare CFO Summit takes place in Palm Beach, Florida, April 15-17, 2013.
