The Conemaugh Health System has been surveyed by the Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) and awarded “Provisional Accreditation” for 2 years to provide continuing medical education (CME) for physicians.
The decision by the Pennsylvania Medical Society was based on Conemaugh Health System’s self study report, evidence of performance in practice, and the accreditation interview. Conemaugh Health System demonstrated compliance in the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) Essential Elements and Criteria required for Provisional Accreditation. Accreditation seeks to assure the medical community and the public that Conemaugh Health System provides physicians with relevant, effective, practice-based continuing medical education that supports health care quality improvement.
The Conemaugh Health System CME Steering Committee, along with the Department of Continuing Education, were instrumental in the survey preparation, data collection and the accreditation interview. The Conemaugh Health System gratefully acknowledges the committee members and staff whose dedication contributed to the survey's successful outcome.
“Achieving accreditation demands a high level of commitment and effort. Our status as an accredited organization allows us to provide our community with an extra measure of confidence in the competence of its health care providers,” says Gayle Denk, Manager, Continuing Education.
Conemaugh Health System is also an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association and is a Training Center for the American Heart Association.
