Conemaugh Memorial’s Emergency Medicine Team Saves Lives at Work While Welcoming 17 New Lives at Home

December 28, 2018

Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center’s Department of Emergency Medicine team is always standing by to help patients and families during life’s most critical moments. 2018 brought thousands of patients and positive outcomes. Outside of work, this hardworking team had more reasons to celebrate a great year.

When they aren’t saving lives, this experienced staff is spending time with family and friends and enjoying precious moments. In 2018, a baby boom started to unfold as physicians, resident physicians, and staff in the department welcomed 17 babies to their families, with the most recent being born Christmas Eve.

“We are a family in the Emergency Department,” said Dr. Jennifer Savino, Department Chairperson for the Department of Emergency Medicine at Conemaugh Memorial. “We all feel blessed to welcome these little ones and share in everyone’s joy. The team worked together to make sure we were fully staffed and delivering the expert care expected at Conemaugh Memorial.” With such a large staff, it’s expected that a few babies are born each year– but 17 is a new record for one year.

All the babies born locally were delivered at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, recognized by the Joint Commission for Perinatal Care and home to the highest level neonatal intensive care unit (Level 3) in Cambria and surrounding counties. Conemaugh Memorial offers prepared childbirth classes and breastfeeding classes for expecting parents. Call (814) 534-9009 or visit Conemaugh.org Calendar of Events for dates and registration information.

Congratulations to all listed here and all Conemaugh families expecting babies in the New Year!
