Conemaugh Health System Security Breach

May 19, 2015

Conemaugh recently received notification of a security breach from Medical Management LLC (MML), a national company that provides professional billing and coding services for emergency medicine physicians including those at Conemaugh Health System's Memorial Medical Center, Meyersdale Medical Center and Miners Medical Center.

Since MML informed us about the breach, we have worked closely together to ensure proper notification and identity theft protection services for all impacted patients.

While this breach did not happen within the Conemaugh Health System and did not involve any Conemaugh employees, we regret that it has impacted our valued patients. We are monitoring the situation closely and will continue to do so to ensure that MML provides our patients with a swift and acceptable remedy to this unfortunate situation.

MML is sending a letter to all patients impacted by this breach to notify them and offer free identity theft protection for a year. This service is provided by Kroll Inc., a global leader in identity theft protection. Services include credit monitoring and identity theft consultation and restoration. Additional information on these services is included in the letter.

If a patient does not receive a letter, that means they are not part of the security breach.

Anyone with questions or concerns is welcome to call the Conemaugh Health System's Compliance/Privacy Officer - Diane Pringle at (814) 410-8421.
