ER Wait Time: mins
Each day, 18 people in the United States will die while waiting for a life-saving organ transplant and every 10 minutes, another person’s name is added to the national transplant waiting list. More than 116,000 people are waiting for life-saving organs, and hundreds of thousands more hope for life-enhancing tissue transplants.
Conemaugh Health System and the Center for Organ Recovery & Education (CORE) help families through the difficult loss of a loved one while making the life-saving decision to help another individual in need. Conemaugh Health System's Donor Advisory Committee is comprised of clinical and non-clinical staff who work together to ensure quality and safety of donors, honor loved ones lost, and educate employees and the general public about the importance of registering to be a donor.
The Center for Organ Recovery & Education (CORE) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting donation, education, and research for the purpose of saving and improving the quality of life through organ, tissue, and corneal transplantation. CORE serves counties in western Pennsylvania, West Virginia and a portion of New York. Conemaugh Health System's hospitals are part of the CORE network of 155 hospitals, including five transplant centers.
The hospitals of Conemaugh Health System have been repeatedly recognized by The Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) and nationally by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) for organ, tissue, and eye donation awareness initiatives.
