Geriatric Inpatient Treatment
Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center's Geriatric Psychiatric Inpatient program includes an 18-bed unit dedicated to provide care for individuals age 60 and older experiencing severe psychiatric symptoms.
Geriatric Psychiatric Symptoms
- Confusion or disorientation
- Depression
- Suicidal thoughts or thoughts of hurting others
- Anxiety
- Sleep or eating disturbances
- Inability to care for self
- Psychosis
Treatment Team
Conemaugh Health System's Behavior Medicine treatment team consists of board certified psychiatrists, psychologists, nurse practitioners / physician assistants, nurses, social workers, recreational and occupational therapists, and additional healthcare specialists. The multi-disciplinary staff emphasizes a family-oriented approach and caregivers are encouraged to be active participants in the treatment team throughout a patient’s stay.

Admission Criteria
- 60 years of age or older
- Primary psychiatric diagnosis
- Require geriatric inpatient treatment and admitted to a psychiatrist
- Able to participate in unit activities and will benefit from a therapeutic setting and treatment program
