Suzie McCombie was just 27 years old when she was diagnosed with cancer. After her battle and victory over the disease she decided to give back to other cancer patients. Family and friends surrounded her with support during the fifth anniversary of “Suzapalooza”, an event she created to raise funds for other cancer patients.
This year’s event hosted more than 400 attendees. The event included basket raffles, a corn-hole tournament and three bands and a DJ that provided entertainment.
“It is overwhelming the support that I receive each year and especially this year,” says McCombie. “I am grateful to have received treatment through the Conemaugh Cancer Care Center and I’m thrilled to be able to make a donation of $6,000 to help other local cancer patients.” Proceeds made from Suzapalooza support patient needs such as meals during chemotherapy, transportation, and medication assistance.
McCombie expresses her appreciation of the Conemaugh Cancer Care Center staff who attended her event, along with dozens of family and friends who helped with everything from donating baskets to donating their time for the event. She is already looking forward to the sixth anniversary.
