School of EMS

The School of EMS at Memorial Medical Center offers certification for emergency medical technician-paramedics (EMT-P).

The EMT-P program is a comprehensive, 11-month program includes 400 hours of classroom study, 400 hours of clinical training in select hospital departments, and 100 hours of field internship. In-depth fields of study include patient assessment, anatomy and physiology, medical and trauma emergencies, and life development. Students also receive extensive instruction on EKG identification, defibrillation, pharmacology, advanced airway management and IV therapy.

Upon completion of the EMT-P program, students are certified in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), pre-hospital trauma life support (PHTLS), and pediatric education for pre-hospital professionals (PEPP). Ninety-four percent of recent graduates passed the Pennsylvania State Certification Exam and nearly every graduate received an EMT-P job offer.
