The two-year curriculum at the Conemaugh School of Nursing combines evidence-based nursing education and state-of-the-art clinical practicum in a Level 1 Trauma Medical Center and an Advanced Primary Stroke Center. Students also have experience in the Medical Skills Learning Lab (MSL) which is accredited by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Program for Accreditation of Education Institutes. Conemaugh’s MSL is only one of 58 nationally accredited simulation labs. The rigorous and dynamic nursing education program is approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). Contact information is available in the School of Nursing Catalog.
With over 1,000 hours of clinical practicum under the supervision of all Master’s in Nursing-prepared faculty, students grow professionally to meet registered nurse career responsibilities. Many faculty have professional certifications in the area of their primary curriculum assignment. Student-to-faculty clinical ratios are low to provide optimal instruction.
The Conemaugh graduate possesses a total of 31 college credits and 65 nursing credits. Graduates are encouraged to pursue continuing education options to include BSN/MSN/PhD completion programs. There are multiple accredited college programs to select from. Conemaugh School of Nursing has partnership agreements with Mount Aloysius College, Chatham University, Carlow University, and Drexel University. These agreements offer advanced standing. Graduates in some RN-BSN programs have completed the degree option in as little as one and one-half years.
The diploma program offers an affordable education to be prepared to take the NCLEX-RN licensure exam. The Conemaugh pass rate tends to exceed the national and state averages. Financial aid and scholarships are available throughout the curriculum plan to qualified students.
