- Mammography can show changes in breast tissue up to two years before a patient or physician can feel them. *
- Mammograms lead to early detection when treatment is most effective and cancer is curable.
The American Cancer Society (ACS), American Medical Association (AMA) and the American College of Radiology (ACR) recommend screening mammography every year for women beginning at age 40.
Women who have had breast cancer and those with a family history of the disease should speak with their physician for screening recommendations.
Studies show less than half of the women in our region who should be having yearly mammography screenings are actually doing so.
Please encourage the women you love to make a yearly screening a priority!
