"On January 18, 2012 totally unexpected I underwent a triple by-pass. It all came about because I wanted to join my wife in the exercise program in the cardiac rehab lab. Before I could do it I had to get an OK from my doctor. Dr. Ellenberger had me go for a stress test. Things were not exactly normal and I had to see Dr. Steinberg. That led to a heart cath and things did not turn out well with it. This was the 17th. There was too much blockage and he recommended I see the surgeon about a by-pass. Of course I wasn't too thrilled about it but I agreed. Dr. Devineni recommended I have it done. He said I could have it done on Wednesday the 18th. I said let's go for it. Everything turned out very good and was home Saturday.

I want to start by thanking some people. First of all is Dr. Steinberg and his staff and nurses in the cath lab. They were super and could not do enough to help.

Second is Drs. Devineni and I believe Mavridis their staff in the OR. They also did a super job to have me in and out in a matter of a few hours. I think the operation only took about 2 hours. Being one of Jehovah's Witnesses they did all this without a blood transfusion or needing to stop my heart. Thank you doctors and staff for a job well done.

Third are the nurses and staff in the ICU. Again they were top notch. I could not have asked for better care and would not have received any where else. They were especially helpful to me and my family. We were all impressed with the care. You were all superb.

Fourth were the nurses and staff on the 7th floor. I wish I could remember all your names I would personally thank each and everyone of you. I cannot think of anything you could have done better. To think that you put up with me those three days. You almost made it to be a fun experience if you can believe that. Once the tubes were out the pain was eliminated and I was in a comfortable position. You treated me and my family exceptionally. I don't know how I can thank you enough for what you had done. All of you were Angels of Mercy.

I hope you will circulate this to all those involved. I hope I didn't miss anyone. If I ever hear of anyone that must have an operation of this type I will highly recommend your hospital and the doctors and staff involved with me. You are all at the top of the heap. I want to thank you from the bottom of my rebuilt heart. I am feeling great and ready for a snowball fight.
