James Tretter, DO, FACS
Dr. Tretter maintains dual certification by the American Board of Surgery in General and Vascular Surgery. His current practice is devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of vascular disease, with a special interest in catheter directed therapy. He completed his General Surgery Residency at MMC, followed by a Vascular Surgery fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He then served four years on active duty in the US Army as chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery at Tripler Army Medical Center. Academic appointments included clinical assistant professorships at the University of Hawaii and the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. Dr. Tretter chose to return to MMC to help launch the Regional Vascular Network. He is a published author and has presented at several professional conferences, including the American College of Surgeons annual meeting and the annual Gary P. Wratten Army Surgical Symposium.

Justin Boccardo, MD
Dr. Boccardo recently returned to Johnstown after completing a Vascular Surgery Fellowship at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio, in June 2010. Dr. Boccardo treats the full spectrum of disorders of the blood vessels, including conditions such as carotid artery disease and stroke prevention, abdominal aneurysms, lymphedema and diabetic ulcers. In addition, these specialists treat end-stage kidney disease with arterial-venous (AV) fistulas, which are considered the most effective method of gaining access to provide life-saving dialysis. Many of these treatments can be performed using endovascular or minimally invasive procedures, including extremity balloon angioplasty, stenting and vein ablation, resulting in less pain, fewer complications and shorter hospital stays for patients as opposed to open surgical procedures.

Amr Omar Shawarby, MD, FACS
After completing his residency at Memorial Medical Center, Dr. Shawarby pursued additional training as a Cardiovascular Disease fellow at the Deborah Heart and Lung Center in New Jersey. He is a graduate of Azhar University in Egypt and is board certified in General Surgery.
