The MSLC team includes a medical director, administrator and coordinator who work together to manage daily operations of the MSLC. A system-wide steering committee, representing all educational areas within Conemaugh Health System, provides additional strategic support. Our team includes:

  
Leah Patton, CST
Manager
Ms. Patton brings more than 25 years of clinical and administrative experience to her position. Since 1985, she has shared her expertise with colleagues across several departments at MMC, including the Operating Room, Department of Emergency Medicine and the Ambulatory Health Surgery Center. She has also held administrative positions in the Department of Surgery and the General Surgery residency program. Ms. Patton is a former two-term board member of the Pennsylvania State Assembly of Surgical Technologists and is actively involved in the Association of Surgical Technologists. A health care educator, she has also served as a clinical instructor for the Surgical Technology program at Mount Aloysius College. Ms. Patton is a graduate of MMC’s Program of Surgical Technology and is currently pursuing her baccalaureate degree in Health Related Professions from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.

Rick Johns
Coordinator
As Coordinator for the MSLC, Mr. Johns arranges daily activities for the Center, manages scheduling needs and helps to plan a variety of educational programs for health care professionals within and outside of Conemaugh Health System. He earned a BA in Business Management from the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown. A retired Navy Hospital Corpsman with more than 20 years of medical knowledge and experience, Mr. Johns spent an additional five years with a local technology company developing and testing medical applications for the military before joining the MSLC team.

Steering Committee
Steering Committee members represent all departments within Conemaugh Health System which provide educational services. The group helps coordinate all educational programs that may use or benefit from simulation training, and combines its expertise to provide ongoing strategic counsel to the MSLC staff. Committee members include:
