In addition to required training modules for residents, nursing students and allied health students, the Medical Skills Learning Center supports continuing medical education through an offering of courses that award CEU's and CME's to physicians, nurses, allied health and others. Courses are offered through the Conemaugh Learning Institute.

Courses include:

Mastering the Difficult Airway                                                                                                 
The course will focus on recognizing the difficult airway, rapid sequence intubation medications, alternative airway devices, surgical airways, ventilation, management of failed ventilation and medication management.

Advanced Trauma Life Support
This two-day course focuses on patient care during the “First Hour.” It emphasizes initial assessment and primary management of the injured patient beginning from the point of injury until the patient is stabilized in a trauma center.  

Fundamentals of Critical Care
This comprehensive two-day course addresses fundamental principles for the first 24 hours of critical care.

Advanced Burn Life Support
This day-long course provides guidelines in the assessment and management of the burn patient during the first 24 hours post-injury. Instruction includes work on a simulated burn patient to reinforce the assessment, stabilization and the American Burn Association transfer criteria to a Burn Center.
