Surgical Care Improvement Project (SCIP) is one of the national quality partnerships with the goal to use evidence-supported process measures to prevent surgical site infections.  These measures are reported and updated on the CMS Hospital Compare site. Performance excellence involves benchmarking best practices and we want you to know how we measure up.

Antibiotics Before Surgery

There are 7 procedures in which a patient should receive a preventative antibiotic prior to the surgeon making the incision. These surgeries are:

 Abdominal and Vaginal Hysterectomy, Hip and Knee Replacement, Cardiac Surgery, Vascular Surgery, and Colorectal Surgery.
