Several special programs differentiate Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center from other hospitals offering student rotations, including:
- First Year Summer Clinical Experience - Family Medicine Residency Program
Conemaugh Family Medicine Residency Program is offering a 2-week primary care clinical experience for first year medical students. You will have the opportunity to work in the inpatient and outpatient settings with our resident and attending physicians. Housing and meals are provided. The experience will be ideal for those students interested in primary care in a small town setting.
Application
- Lunch with Top Administrators
Students meet with Scott Becker, Chief Executive Officer, Conemaugh Health System and other senior leaders to get first-hand perspectives about the administrative opportunities and challenges facing today’s doctors and the hospitals, clinics and practices where they work
- Procedures Day
This much-anticipated event is a rare opportunity to participate in hands-on sessions in suturing, casting and colposcopy, all taught by attending physicians. Students can also try lifesaving procedures on “Stan,” our Human Patient Simulator. “Stan” is a computer model-driven, full-size adult and child mannequin that is physiologically based and able to react to interventions in real time. It has a heartbeat and pulse and accurately mirrors human responses to CPR, medications, intubation, catheterizations and other procedures.
- Job Shadowing
Job shadowing is an academically motivating activity designed to provide qualified students an up-close look at the world of health care as a basis for career planning. Students may request to "shadow" in a specific department or select a particular occupation. Each is assigned to a physician mentor.
