We offer compassionate care to help those whose life expectancy is limited by illness live with independence and dignity. A family member or other caregiver tends to the daily needs of the patient with the support and guidance of the Hospice Team. While many think of Hospice for those suffering from the last stages of cancer, Hospice care can also help those whose treatments for ALS, emphysema, congestive heart failure or other illnesses are no longer effective.
Our services are available to patients in Cambria, Bedford and parts of Somerset, Blair, Westmoreland and Indiana Counties. Our services include:
- Symptom control to help manage the side effects of the disease, such as constipation, nausea, vomiting or shortness of breath
- Pain management
- 24/7 coordination of care for patients and their families
- Emotional support
- Spiritual support
- Counseling
- Caregiver education
- Respite care
- Bereavement follow-up
Although Hospice care is centered in the home, it is sometimes necessary for the patient to receive care for a short period of time in a hospital setting. Our Hospice team will help arrange this care and will stay involved with the patient and family, resuming care in the home when appropriate.
