The Family Medical Center (FMC) is a modern medical suite which serves as the primary training site for physicians enrolled in the Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center Family Practice Residency.

Residents see patients under the supervision of experienced faculty physicians. We see patients of all ages. Every patient is assigned a personal physician. We take a psychosocial approach to patient care and have a full time psychologist on staff. One faculty member is a family physician with special expertise in dermatology. Another has special expertise in podiatry. Three of our faculty members have certificates of added qualifications in geriatrics.

The most common procedures performed in the Family Medical Center include:

  • Minor skin surgery and suturing
  • Endometrial biopsy
  • Colposcopy
  • Punch biopsy
  • Cryotherapy
  • Pap smears
  • Gynecological exams
  • EKGs
  • Splinting
  • Anoscopy
  • Tympanometry
  • Audiometry
  • Spirometry

The physicians and staff of FMC have been using a secure electronic health records (EHRs) since 2005. This allows for efficient documentation of patient information in an organized and readily accessible way. Necessary information can be securely shared with colleagues quickly and confidentially, ensuring that patients receive the level of care they need and deserve. The office records are also readily available when our patients are hospitalized.

The Family Medical Center at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center operates similar to a private group medical practice, and offers a wide variety of services, in-office procedures and diagnostic tests. Most major insurance plans, including Medicare, Security Blue, Access, Gateway, Blue Cross, Keystone and others, are accepted.
