The Program in Emergency Medicine is a PGY 1, 2, 3, 4 program associated with the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, located in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, is the base training site and is a Level I Trauma Center designated by the Pennsylvania State Trauma System Foundation with aero medical transport service.
The Emergency Department is the primary receiving facility for Johnstown and the surrounding counties. With an emergency volume over 70,000 patient visits, 2,800 pediatric visits and a 25% admission rate, Memorial’s Emergency Department is comparable to major urban center programs, yet it is located in the affordable and scenic Laurel Highlands of south western Pennsylvania.
Conemaugh’s Emergency Medicine Residency is designed to prepare graduates for AOBEM certification in emergency medicine. To support this goal, the curriculum provides residents with the knowledge and skills to rapidly evaluate and treat patients of all levels of acuity.
