Luis Gonzalez, III, PharmD, BCPS - Program Director
Dr. Gonzalez has enjoyed a 32 year career at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center (MMC). He started clinical pharmacy programs at MMC in 1990 and the PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency Program in 2002. He holds teaching positions with several schools of pharmacy and medicine and has been the recipient of Preceptor of the Year awards at both the University of Pittsburgh and Ohio Northern University. He is an accomplished author and lecturer with numerous publications and presentations to his credit. Dr. Gonzalez has served as the Institutional Review Board Chair at MMC for the last 15 years and is actively involved in clinical research at the medical center.
Stephanie Thomas, PharmD, BCPS, CDE - Associate Program Director/Coordinator
Soon after graduating with distinction from Ohio Northern University’s pharmacy program, Dr. Thomas joined the Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center pharmacy team and helped launch the hospital’s first pharmacy practice residency program. She currently serves as its Associate Director. She conducts daily rounds with the trauma and family medicine teams serving as the drug information specialist and mentoring pharmacy residents and students. During her tenure at MMC, Dr. Thomas has initiated collaborative practice agreements for the pharmacist-led acute pain service, anticoagulation clinic and total parenteral nutrition service. She also developed a team-based diabetes clinic to educate patients and provide treatment recommendations. She is a published author and frequent lecturer at physician forums. She serves as a preceptor for the Family Practice, Trauma/Surgery, Preceptor Education, and Ambulatory Care rotations.
Paul Troiano, RPh, MS, FACHE - Corporate Director of Pharmaceutical and Respiratory Care Services
Paul Troiano brings more than 25 years of pharmacy and management experience to the Conemaugh Health System. His professional perspectvie has been shaped by a career that includes community and hospital-based pharmacy, as well as pharmaceutical consulting services. He is currently a part time faculty for the Duquesne University School of Pharmacy and previously served in the same capacity at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Pharmacy. He is actively involved in several professional organizations, including the American Society of Healthsystem Pharmacists and is the educational board chairperson for HealthConnect Partners. He is a Fellow and certified healthcare executive in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). He is also a published author who regularly presents at seminars of professional pharmacy organizations, pharmaceutical companies and health care administrators.
Sara Gaines, PharmD, HIVP
Dr. Gaines serves as preceptor of the Infectious Diseases & HIV rotations since 2009. She earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy at Ohio Northern University and completed her PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. In addition to her work at the main campus, Dr. Gaines also sees patients at the John P. Murtha Neuroscience & Pain Institute’s Specialty Clinics.
Nancy Keefer, PharmD
Dr. Keefer is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. She completed her pharmacy residency at Memorial Medical Center and took a position as a full-time pharmacist with the Acute Pain Service. She rounds daily with the Pain Resource Team on active pain consults, and precepts pharmacy residents on rotations in Pain Management and Internal Medicine. Additionally, she precepts students from schools of pharmacy and lectures for resident physicians and nursing students.
Terrie Meese, RPh
Dr. Meese currently serves as Operations Manager for the Department of Pharmaceutical Care Services. She has been a pharmacist with Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center for over twenty five years, starting as an intern. In addition to her managing duties, she handles quality assurance issues, staffs, precepts students and is an active member of various committees in the hospital. She is particularly interested in participation in medication research studies.
Willam M. Pinkowski, RPh
Dr. Pinkowski serves as the Pharmacy Manager at the Conemaugh Cancer Care Center. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the Temple University School of Pharmacy, Philadelphia, PA. A member of ASHP and HOPA, Dr. Pinkowski brings 18 years of experience from many different settings/venues to the Oncology team at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. He is currently working on becoming Board Certified in Oncology Pharmacy.
