Priscilla's memories of her three years at Conemaugh School of Nursing are vivid. She recalls precise details about the hospital and the experiences she and her classmates shared while living in the nurses' home and working long hours on the patient floors. At that time, nursing students had to be single and all were female and required to live across the street from the hospital under the strict supervision of housemothers. World War II placed extra demands on the Class of 1946, "and I think we rose to the challenge," Priscilla says.
