Dr. Abboud completed his training in Gastroenterology at USC, an institution exemplified by its strong tradition in the study of liver diseases. He trained under the mentorship of Dr. Neil Kaplowitz and rotated in the liver service that was initiated by Dr. Telfer B. Reynolds, one of the founders of the discipline of hepatology. While at USC, Dr. Abboud received an award from the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases.

Dr. Abboud then completed his training in Interventional Gastroenterology under the mentorship of Dr. Simon Lo at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, ranked among the top five institutions in the nation for gastroenterology. Dr. Abboud is a member the American Medical Association, the American Gastroenterological Association and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
