Edie Durant & Pam Syster
Food & Nutrition
Conemaugh Health System employee Edie Durant and Pam Syster are also basking in their success of kicking the smoking habit. Pam, Director of Food and Nutrition, has been an employee of Sodexo for Conemaugh Health System for 12 years. A self-proclaimed reformed smoker of 18 years, Pam encouraged Lee Campus Food Service Manager Edie Durant to stop smoking. A Conemaugh employee of over 30 years, Edie struggled to quit the habit. Finally, in early 2012, Edie took the necessary steps to quit smoking with the support of her family members and colleague and friend, Pam. Earlier this year, Edie mentioned to Pam that running a marathon was on her bucket list. Thanks to her increased energy, lung capacity and motivation from beating her tobacco cravings, Edie began training. Both Pam and Edie participated in this year’s Conemaugh 5K Que Classic on September 29. They also formed a training partnership to relay in the Hershey half marathon on October 20. “Edie has started a department wide craze with all of us working out at the Wellnes Gym to get healthy,” says Pam.
Congratulations, Edie and Pam! We're so proud of you!
