The Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) Pharmacy Residency Program emphasizes teaching and direct patient care experiences. Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center serves as the primary residency training site. The hospital provides extensive tertiary care services throughout west central Pennsylvania.

  • Application Deadline: January 31
  • Program Start Date: July 1
  • Number of Positions: 4
  • Stipend: Competitive
  • Staffing: Every other weekend
  • Eligibility: Pennsylvania license and Doctor of Pharmacy Degree

The unique combination of providing tertiary care in a community-based setting offers residents several educational advantages, including:

  • Gain experience optimizing healthcare processes through organization quality improvement projects or initiatives

Required program rotations include:

  • Administration/Medical Management
  • Ambulatory Care (including diabetes and HIV clinics, and Anticoagulation Management)
  • Critical Care/Nutrition
  • Family Practice (inpatient)
  • Hematology / Oncology
  • Infectious Disease / Antimicrobial Stewardship
  • Internal Medicine
  • Pain Management
  • Primary Care Resource Center
  • Preceptor Education Rotation
  • Trauma/Surgery

Elective rotations include:

  • Behavioral Health
  • Cardiothoracic Surgery
  • Critical Care, focus on Cardiology
  • Emergency Medicine
  • Geriatrics
  • Neonatal Intensive Care
  • Nephrology
  • Pain Management focus on Palliative Care
  • Outpatient, Transitions of Care
  • Trauma, focus on General Surgery

Additional rotations may be available depending on a resident's interests and individual career objectives.
