Dr. Eckels is a board-certified family physician with a Certificate of Added Qualification in Geriatrics and additional qualification in Hyperbaric Medicine and wound care that brings nearly 40 years of clinical teaching experience to the AOA/ACOFP Family Medicine Program. A rural underserved private practice physician, Dr. Eckels is a published author who has conducted research on a number of topics including hormone replacement therapy, diabetic polyneuropathy, and diabetic microvascular disease. A member of a number of professional organizations, he is also is actively involved in community, civic, and national affairs. Dr. Eckels is a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and served a rotating internship at Tri-County Hospital in Springfield, Pennsylvania.
