Neuropsychologist to Present at Pennsylvania Psychological Association Annual Conference

June 9, 2016

Robert Sawicki, PhD, a neuropsychologist with Conemaugh Physician Group, will be a presenter at the Pennsylvania Psychological Association annual conference in Harrisburg on June 15, 2016.

Dr. Sawicki will present Dementia, It’s not Just Aging and it’s not all Alzheimer’s, which will cover the approximately 20+ forms of dementing disorders; each with a different course and etiology, but frequently interacting.

Dr. Sawicki practices with Conemaugh Physician Group Neurosurgery, and recently began a new clinic to diagnose and treat patients in the region with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH).

Hydrocephalus occurs when there is an excess accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain. It can be caused by a variety of disorders affecting the brain and spinal cord. NPH can often be treated effectively once a diagnosis has been made, but because the symptoms can be associated with the aging process, people often assume they must live with these problems.

The Pennsylvania Psychological Association is the professional association for psychologists in Pennsylvania, serving the needs of psychologists in independent practice, schools, business organizations, hospitals, private and government agencies, and academia.

Founded in 1933, PPA is the third largest state association affiliated with the American Psychological Association. (www.apa.org)
